Morning Cup of Coffee - "God You Are My God"

Print this Article

If you click on the link associated with this post, it will take you to this morning's devotional by Charles H. Spurgeon.

Good morning! The scripture for today comes from Psalm 67:6, "Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us." Dr. Spurgeon makes so many good points. How often do we rely on God? We go through life, trying to do everything ourselves, never asking God what plans He has for our lives. I know I am quite guilty of this. It seems like the only time we really call out to God is in some sort of trouble. Never in the good times do we give Him credit or acknowledge Him. Why don't we say, "God, I just want to thank You for everything You've done for me today. Thank you for that wonderful meal You supplied me!" I realize that statement might sound quaint, or trite even, but God wants us to walk with Him daily.

This verse reminds me of a contemporary praise song that is commonly sung among youth groups...Here's a few of the lyrics:

Oh God, You are my God, and I will ever praise You
Oh God, You are my God, and I will ever praise You
I will seek you in the morning, and I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
--Rich Mullins

Let's just try to seek God this morning, and let's learn to walk in His ways, not ours.
